Martin Flaunet, audit partner, has been appointed as leader of the banking industry at Deloitte Luxembourg as of May 2013. In his new role, Martin will focus on assisting the banking industry to adapt the new regulatory framework and reforms (such as CRD IV, SSM, AIFMD/UCITS V) and cope with the business paradigm faced by the private banking industry.

He will be supported by Patrick Laurent, partner in the advisory & consulting department and recently appointed banking technology leader across the Deloitte network in Europe, Middle East and Africa, as well as Michel Guilluy, tax partner at Deloitte Luxembourg.

Yves Francis, Managing Partner at Deloitte Luxembourg, commented: “I’m very pleased about this appointment. I trust that Martin, together with Patrick and Michel will help us to connect even better to our clients in the banking industry, identify their needs and support them, especially in this challenging economic situation.”

Martin has more than 18 years professional experience as an auditor and regulatory consultant, with a focus on the banking industry. Working for Deloitte Luxembourg since 1998, Martin was seconded to Deloitte’s New York practice for two years, where he furthermore gained extensive experience in the fields of securities and the operations of foreign bank branches.

Since 2008, he has been coordinating Deloitte’s Basel II/III services in Luxembourg and across Europe, developing his expertise in the domains of risk management and corporate governance.

Martin is a registered auditor (Réviseur d’entreprises agréé) and public accountant (Expert comptable), as well as member of the CSSF ad hoc CRD working group and a deputy member of ABBL.
